Leadership Montco works with students across Montgomery County school districts to participate in student leadership programs designed to empower young leaders, cultivate essential skills, and inspire positive change in their schools and communities. These initiatives provide students with unique opportunities to develop self-awareness, advocacy, and STEM innovation while engaging with peers, educators, and professionals.

Voices for Education Advocacy & Legislation Group

Empowers students with the knowledge, skills, and platforms necessary to engage effectively in advocacy and legislative processes.

Activities Include:

  • Engaging in policy analysis workshops to assess and understand the impact of current educational policies on student well-being and learning.
  • Cultivating the ability to represent student interests effectively through role-playing and feedback-driven learning exercises.
  • Building advocacy skills through scheduled interactions with lawmakers, enabling students to practice negotiation, articulate policy positions, and understand the legislative process.

Dreaming Forward: Elevating Student Voice to Reimagine Belonging in Montgomery County Schools

Created to illuminate the complex challenges to belonging that young people encounter and empower them to initiate positive change in their schools, communities, and beyond.

Chief Science Officers

Created to advance STEM education and inspire the next generation of STEM leaders so they feel empowered to amplify their voice, bring STEM opportunities to their peers and community, and enrich their school STEM culture. Activities Include:
  • Participating in hands-on learning opportunities geared to practice workplace skills in communication, leadership, strategic planning, and team building.
  • Spearheading STEM projects, collaborating with peers, influencing school STEM agendas, and advocating for STEM in their school and community.
  • Practicing employability skills such as teamwork, work ethic, critical thinking, problem solving, and verbal and written STEM communication with STEM professionals.
